Lesson learned
Social reading week continues with a refresher course on aspects of Bibliocommons and the creation of a Goodreads account. Got caught up in Goodreads for an hour, adding books I've read, am reading and want to read and connecting with a "friend" and her books! Although I've browsed this site before I think I will actually visit it regularly and use it to it's full potential. Highly recommend. Revisited Twitter to try and understand it a little better and discovered that beginners should be content to retweet other's interesting messages before adding their own. Good lesson. Also reflects my feelings about " 23 things" generally, that I can't absorb everything at once, but will use the new training info a bit at a time and hope that "practice makes perfect."

Socializing
Onwards and upwards! Week 3 and social reading. Finally something I recognize and use regularly. Well, I've never left comments before, so that's new but all in all pretty confident. Asked family for some of their favourite titles to use in my lists and was surprised to find that we love many of the same authors! More work to do in this week's things...

Tweet, tweet
Sooo, day 2 of the Twitter adventure and I'm happy to say that I've found lots of people to follow and actually tweeted the Canadian Olympic team regarding the announcement of Hayley Wickenheiser's appointment as flagbearer. Score!! Not as sure about using HootSuite yet. Will have to explore further. Seemed to want to have access to all my social media. Will have to discuss it with co-workers. Hashtag not as complicated as I expected. All in all not a bad week and looking forward to Social Reading and following other 23 Things NB bloggers.

Where does the time go?
Today's adventure - how to set up a twitter account (hardest part thinking up another user name; luckily I have a dog!). Also got carried away when I decided to explore Scoop.it. Had to create an account and spent an hour looking at various blogs that applied to my current interest. One of my fears about blogging is that I'll get so involved moving from link to link that I'll lose a large piece of time. Fear realized! ): But I gained some useful information on my newest home project so it was worth the time spent.
Blog world
Well, let's see... I had a fair amount of anxiety about learning how to set up a blog and manage it but have been surprised that learning something new like this feels a little like an adventure. Maybe you can "teach an old dog new tricks" after all. Still not 100% there ( as in haven't figured how to include a picture) but it will come. Next is Twitter and that will be a challenge but, again, something out of my normal comfort zone.
